Narada Muni once went to Vaikuntha and served Mother Laxmi very attentively. SriLaxmi was very pleased and requested Narada Muni to ask for any boon. Temple of Goddess Kakatpur Mangala






Here the team takes rest for several days while the oldest Daitapati sleeps inside the Temple. Goddess Mangala appears in the dream of the old priest. After taking bless of Goddess Mangala the team starts searching for the holy tree.
Terms and Conditions for identification of tree

 Jagannath Swamy

 The holy tree should have been seen Branches.

 The skin of the tree must be light brown or white color .

 It should have a sign of plough and pestle etc.

 Near by tree there should be a heritage and also a graveyard.

 Subhadhra:

 Seven branches should be present on the holy tree.

 Balabhadra:

 The holy tree should have four main branches and there should be the sign of Sankha and Chakra.

 There should be a hill near the tree and a snake hole at the roots of the tree and no birds nest.

 The tree should be near the river or a pond or surrounded by three mountains.

 Sudharshana:
The holy margo tree should have three branches.

 The bark of the tree should be barkish.

 The tree should have a sign of Chakra with a small depression in the middle.



Cutting Ceremony of Trees
Pati Mahapatra first touches the tree with a golden axe.

 Daitapati touches it with a silver axe.

 The head wood carver of the Maharana family touches it with an iron axe.

 During the tree cutting. One hundred eight names of God are chanted incessantly .
After identification of trees:

 Trunks on the wooden cart and dragged by the Daitapatis to the temple.

 The logs are kept inside the temple in a place known as Koili Baikuntha.

 The carving of the images begin with the three oldest and seven main wood carvers who starts the work from Lord Jagannath.

 Carver follows certain measurements to carve the Lord on the log.
Measurement of Deities:

 More than 50 carpenters work carving of deities in special enclosure.

 The enclosure is open on the top.

 The wood carvers are not supposed to consume anything inside the enclosure.

 For 21 days carver cannot leave the temple premises.

 They sleep in the temple court yard .

 Devotional songs are sung outside the Koili Baikuntha for 21 days.

 Shlokas from the vedas are chanted continuously by Brahmin Priests .
